West Indonesian Union Mission and Bible Conference Held in Lembang, Java

More than 500 ministers and administrators attended the Mission and Bible conference of the West Indonesian Union in Lembang, Java. The theme of the conference was “Revived by His Word.” Guest speakers were Drs. Ganoune Diop, Nikolaus Satelmajer, and Gerhard Pfandl. The three-day conference covered issues in mission,  theology, and ministry. The lectures included such topics as “Adventist Identity, Mission and Message,” “The Minister and Ethics,” “The Leader God Wants You to Be,” “The Identity of the Remnant Church,” and “The  Interpretation of the Writings of Ellen White.” Each day had a “Question and Answer” period which produced many questions and led to lively discussions.  

Bible Conference held in Almaty, Kazakhstan

BRI with the support of the Euro Asia Division held a Bible Conference in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan, September 5-10, 2013. Lecturers from the General Conference and the Euro-Asia Division gave seminars on biblical, theological, and practical topics to an audience of about one hundred pastors of the Southern Union.  Artur Stele, Ángel M. Rodríguez, and Elias Brasil de Souza represented BRI for this event.

Biblical Research Committee of the West-Central Africa Division

The BRC of WAD met for the third time to discuss the theology of ordination in order to be able to present a report to the Theology of Ordination Study Committee (TOSC). The meeting was held in the Univeristé Adventiste Cosendai, Cameroon. Representatives of BRI were Drs. Donkor and Mueller. The discussion was lively and intense and yet was carried on with courtesy and mutual respect.

Biblical Theological Symposium in Chile

Ekkehardt Mueller and Elias Brasil de Souza have represented BRI in the X South American Biblical Theological Symposium held in Chillán, Chile, from the 14th to the 18th of August, 2013. More than 400 attendees including Seminary professors, publishing house editors, and administrators of the South American Division along with pastors of the Chile Union convened in the campus of the Adventist University of Chile to attend lectures on “Revelation: the Gospel of the End Time.” For more information on the lecturers and their respective topics see: http://simposio.unach.cl

 

Bible Conferences in the Philippines

Gerhard Pfandl, associate director of the Biblical Research Institute (part-time), led a team of scholars from Andrews University and Newbold College, England, who spoke at the North Philippine Union Conference-wide Ministerial Bible Conferences (July 29-August 7, 2013). The three conferences for about 450 ministers were held at the Central Philippine Adventist College on Negros Occidental, the Caliraya Resort Club on Luzon, and at the East Visayan Academy on Cebu. Each lecturer presented 4-5 topics that included “Pastoral Ethics” by Miroslav Kis, the “Trinity” by John Reeve, and “The Challenges of Mission in the 21st Century” by Gordon Doss. All three lecturers came from Andrews University. Radisa Antic from Newbold College  spoke on “The Second Coming” and Gerhard Pfandl’s lectures included the topic “The Sanctuary in Adventism.” The question and answer periods reflected the high interest and participation of the attending ministers. Each conference concluded with a commitment service.

Bible Conference Held in Asia

From the 5th to the 15th of March, 2013, the BRI with the support of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division held Bible Conferences in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mongolia, and South Korea. Artur Stele, Ekkehardt Mueller, Ángel M. Rodríguez, Clinton Wahlen, Gerhard Pfandl, and Elias Brasil de Souza addressed relevant topics for Adventist theology and mission, such as remnant, Spirit of Prophecy, sanctuary, adventist life style, mission of the church, Biblical interpretation. An attendance of pastors and lay members were actively involved and a lively Q&A session concluded each conference.

Bible Conference held in Hyderabad, India

From the 18th to the 21st of February, one of the 2013 Bible Conferences for pastors organized by BRI took place in Hyderabad, India.  The meetings focused on topics such as the sanctuary, the remnant, Elln G. White, mission, ethics, and dual allegiance. In addition to lectures, inspiring preaching took place. Presenters were Elias Brasil de Souza, Kwabena Donkor, and Ekkehardt Mueller from BRI, and Miroslav Kiš and Gordon Doss from Andrews University. The meetings were very well prepared and supported by the Southern Asia Division, and well-attended by pastors and administrators. Lively discussion in question and answer periods took place and participants were encouraged and challenged.
