Bible Conference Held in Asia

From the 5th to the 15th of March, 2013, the BRI with the support of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division held Bible Conferences in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mongolia, and South Korea. Artur Stele, Ekkehardt Mueller, Ángel M. Rodríguez, Clinton Wahlen, Gerhard Pfandl, and Elias Brasil de Souza addressed relevant topics for Adventist theology and mission, such as remnant, Spirit of Prophecy, sanctuary, adventist life style, mission of the church, Biblical interpretation. An attendance of pastors and lay members were actively involved and a lively Q&A session concluded each conference.

Bible Conference held in Hyderabad, India

From the 18th to the 21st of February, one of the 2013 Bible Conferences for pastors organized by BRI took place in Hyderabad, India.  The meetings focused on topics such as the sanctuary, the remnant, Elln G. White, mission, ethics, and dual allegiance. In addition to lectures, inspiring preaching took place. Presenters were Elias Brasil de Souza, Kwabena Donkor, and Ekkehardt Mueller from BRI, and Miroslav Kiš and Gordon Doss from Andrews University. The meetings were very well prepared and supported by the Southern Asia Division, and well-attended by pastors and administrators. Lively discussion in question and answer periods took place and participants were encouraged and challenged.




West-Central AFrica Division Biblical Research Committee

The Biblical Research Committee of the West-Central Africa Division met for its first time in November 2012 at Valley View University, Ghana. The BRI was represented by Dr. K. Donkor and Dr. E. Mueller. While reading and discussing papers on the theology of ordination, there was mutual respect and a spirit of harmony and unity.

International Bible Conference held in East-Central Africa Division



BRI and the East-Central Africa Division (EAD) held an International Bible Conference in the campus of the Adventist University of Eastern Africa, Baraton, Kenya (December 6-8, 2012). The main topic was “Ecclesiology and Its Implications for the SDA Church in Africa.” Scholars from BRI, Kenya, and other parts of the world presented lectures to a motivated audience of church pastors and administrators from various countries of the EAD territory. Ekkehardt Mueller, Kwabena Donkor, Ángel Manuel Rodríguez, and Elias Brasil de Souza represented the BRI in this Bible Conference.

Euro-Africa Division's Biblical Research Committee

The Biblical Research Committee of the Euro-Africa Division had its second meeting this year at the Italian Adventist College Villa Aurora which is located in Florence/Italy. As usual, the committee spent two days for doing its business. Major agenda items were the issue of war and military service and the study of ordination. BRI was represented by Elias Brasil de Souza, Kwabena Donkor, and Ekkehardt Mueller. There was an exceptional spirit of harmony and collegiality in spite of different positions on some matters.

Bible and Mission Conference held in Prague

More than 300 ministers from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Switzerland attended the Bible and Mission conference in Prague, July 1-5, 2012. Among the presenters were Kwabena Donkor, Ekkehardt Mueller, and Gerhard Pfandl from the Biblical Research Institute of the General Conference. Topics ranged from The Unity of the Church to The Mission of the Church in Europe.

Theological Trends in the Seventh-day Adventist Church Seminar held at the West Panama Conference

Gerhard Pfandl, associate director of the Biblical Research Institute, was invited to visit the West Panama Conference. He spoke to the pastors about current theological trends in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and held a seminar on the Trinity for pastors, elders and lay members which was attended by more than eight hundred people.

Issues in Contemporary Adventist Theology taught at the Peruvian Union University in Lima, Peru

Clinton Wahlen was at the Peruvian Union University in Lima, Peru from February 8 to 19 teaching the course “Issues in Contemporary Adventist Theology” to 43 graduate students, many of whom are themselves teachers and administrators in Peru. While there, 20,000 Seventh-day Adventist young people were involved in a “Caleb outreach” blanketing the city of Lima with evangelistic meetings, health programs, and community service projects.

International Bible and Mission Conference held in Botswana

All of the pastors and some church elders participated in the International Bible and Mission Conference in Botswana, March 21-25, 2012.

Courses on "The Writings of Ellen White" and "The Sanctuary Doctrine" taught at the Romanian Adventist Seminary

The Romanian Adventist Seminary in Cernica offers a MA program in English. Thirty-three students attended the two courses “The Writings of Ellen White” and “The Sanctuary Doctrine” taught during the months of February and March 2012 by Dr. Gerhard Pfandl from the Biblical Research Institute.
