Call for Papers

The Biblical Research Institute invites paper proposals for the Fifth International Bible Conference, June 23–29, 2027, in Athens, Greece.

Proposals should explore connections between biblical revelation, the mission of the Church, and the cultural contexts in which the gospel is proclaimed. Papers should demonstrate rigorous scholarship grounded in Scripture and committed to the worldwide mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church as expressed particularly in Revelation 14:6–12.

Suggested Areas

Proposals may address, but are not limited to: 

Biblical Studies: Biblical foundations of mission; mission in the Old and New Testaments; Acts and cross-cultural mission; Paul and culture; mission in Revelation; nations and cultures in biblical theology; hermeneutics, contextualization, and mission.

Theology: Authority of Scripture; biblical truth and cultural diversity; contextualization and theological identity; theology and globalization; ecclesiology and mission; Adventist identity in multicultural contexts; theology and science.

Mission and Practical Theology: Models of cultural engagement; syncretism; intergenerational and intercultural mission; urban mission and migration; digital culture; discipleship; leadership; and pastoral care.

Church History and Adventist Studies: Early Adventist mission and theology; Adventist mission across cultures; historical approaches to contextualization; lessons from mission history; and contemporary challenges facing global Adventism.

Submission Guidelines

Deadline: January 31, 2027

Please submit:

Paper title.

Abstract of 250–350 words, identifying the topic, thesis, and significance of the proposed paper.

Full name, institutional affiliation, and current position.

Please include this information in the body of the email; no attachment is required.

Conference organizers will notify authors whose proposals are accepted and provide instructions and deadlines for submitting full papers. Selected papers may be considered for publication in a conference volume or other BRI-sponsored scholarly publications.
