Recently, an Adventist Sola Scriptura Research Group has been established. This project will operate under the guidance and oversight of the Theology and Christian Philosophy Department at Andrews University, the administration of the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, and the Biblical Research Institute of the General Conference. It will consist of a group of international theologians and scholars and, according to its constitution, will “assist the world wide Seventh-day Adventist Church in the development of a methodology for its theological task that is biblically grounded and philosophically sound in order to establish and develop its ministerial and missiological dimensions.”

The group understands the sola scriptura principle as including the whole Scripture and as providing the basic hermeneutical principle for all sciences. It will investigate and develop the areas of Christian philosophy, hermeneutics, methodology, systematic theology, and ethics and their relation to ministry and mission. It will attempt to provide continuing education services on Adventist Methodology to the Church throughout the world in the form of lectures, workshops, seminars and other forums and offer resources and practical experience to graduate and doctoral students pursuing studies and research in Adventist Methodology. Dr. Fernando Canale will serve as director and Dr. Kwabena Donkor as secretary.
